Cliche Flower Picture    Upper East Side, New York

Taken by the premesis of Gracie Mansion, the NYC mayor's "official residence" (even though the current mayor doesn't live there). After checking out the Astoria Pool in the morning, today was my day to explore the far eastern edge of the Upper East Side, right up on the East River. We (Mike and I) found, among other things, Rockefeller University, the FDR highway, Cornell's hospital complex, a Manhattan transplant of a well-respected pizza joint, lots of dogs of all different breeds, and this flower.

Diving Board    Astoria Pool, Queens, NY

Astoria Pool is something of a city landmark. It's the second largest pool in the United States and the brainchild of the infamous Robert Moses. It was allegedly built to handle 6,000 people at a time, although today only 2,600 people at a time are permitted. This picture displays only the diving area, not the main pool itself (which is behind us).

San Gennaro Festival    Little Italy, New York, NY

This festival is known among other things for the "Deep Fried Oreo", which is both as good and scary as it sounds.
